Coffee, Curated: Same Days at Grafunkt

Same Days Coffee Stand sits quietly inside Grafunkt’s Joo Chiat store. It’s part café, part kiosk... a compact setup that feels more like a quiet find than a flashy feature. It’s not sectioned off or separate, just tucked into the flow of the space, blending coffee with homeware in a way that feels casual and unforced.
You can enter the café either through its own entrance, or by walking through the furniture shop... just look for it when you enter via Grafunkt’s main entrance. It’s a clever pathway that starts at the knick-knack corner.
As suspected, there's no lounging on display sofas, no sipping on coffee while browsing rugs. Instead, it’s a purpose-built pocket of calm, cordoned gently by low wooden partitions that double as leaner bars and bench-backs.
The menu, like the space, speaks of intention over embellishment. Same Days leans citrus-forward in its espresso line-up, favouring clarity and brightness. Bright sparks like Yuzu Espresso and the ever-effervescent Espresso Tonic speak of ambition wrapped in simplicity, revealing a coffee philosophy that favours light-handed nuance over fanfare.
A few warm pastries round out the offering. Most notably, the canelé, with its honeycomb-textured heart and crisp shell offering a satisfying contrast of textures. The madeleines are light, buttery, and portioned in twos. Ideal for sharing. Or perhaps not.
And then there’s the music. On a recent visit, Belle-Skinner’s “’Tis Autumn” played softly through the café. Its dreamy melancholia wrapping the space in a sense of gentle nostalgia. It’s the kind of detail that tells you everything: here is a place that understands the value of mood, of restraint, of allowing small things to feel big.
Same Days Coffee may be housed inside a retail store, but it hums with more soul than many stand-alone cafés.
In a neighbourhood saturated with the new and the novel, it offers something rarer... a sense of pause.
You might say you’re just here for furniture inspiration, but a coffee break never hurts.

What to Order
Yuzu Espresso – A zesty riff with marmalade notes that brighten without overpowering.
Canelé – Crisp shell, tender heart. Not quite Bordeaux, but a welcomed addition on this side of the globe.
Madeleines – Buttery, comforting, two per portion, ideal for sharing. Or not. ;)
